In 1931, Raoul BRETON, the publisher who was then the companion of DAMIA, introduces Jean to MIREILLE and Jean NOHAIN. The author, Jean NOHAIN, collaborated with the talented composer, MIREILLE, to record their operetta, "Un mois de vacances". MIREILLE, PILLS andTABET as well Jean sing songs which are fresh and light and alive with Anglo-American rhythms. These small masterpieces are part of the participent du "Renewal of the French Song", as it was called by the French press. This music included "Les pieds dans l'eau", "C'est un jardinier qui boite", "La partie de bridge" and "Le joli pharmacien". In 1933, Jean records with MIREILLE's chorus "Ce petit chemin". This disc will become the first great recording success.
Two years later the two friends record "Fermé jusqu'à lundi" and "Puisque vous partez en voyage". The enduring charm of these chansons convince Françoise HARDY et Jacques DUTRONC to sing them once again seventy years later.
